okay so few days ago I saw a movie called Valerie and her week of wonders and I wanted to share my opinion!เญง ‧₊˚ ๐ต
first off some info:
- Valerie and Her Week of Wonders is a novel by Vรญtฤslav Nezval, written in 1935 and first published in 1945. The novel was made into a czech surrealistic movie directed by Jaromil Jireลก.
plot:
The movie is about a 13yo girl called Valerie who explores womanhood through theese very strange things. Firstly she finds out that in the town there are vampires. let's take a look at them firts!! theese vampires are supposed to project the dangers in womanhood as theese bad creatures want to hurt her kill her and trade her. Throughout the movie there are many very disturbing things, such as:
- valerie's relationship with her brother- the relationships seems so romantical and even sexual
- valerie's grandma- this woman is there from the start and we really cannot tell if she is a good person or not because the whole movie is very surrealistic and you can't tell what's real and what is just imagination
- the movie is very sexual and contains child nudity and even a SA scene
- the cinematographic side of the movie is amazing but it almost seems as if they are trying to romanticize all that is happening there
in the end it almost seems as if it was all just Valerie's nightmare but then the characters reappear and it really doesn't make any sense
the whole movie is surrealistic horror story that seems like a fairytale but also like a movie for adults and I feel like that is what makes it so specialเฑจเง
I really would like to go more into detail but I really didn't understand this movie and it seemd very strange and creepy to me, on the other side the artsy camera and the 70's vibe gave it such a beauty that I can't say that I didn't like this movie at all
I would give it ☆ ★ ✮ out of 5
I just feel that there are many better movies exploring this concept such as :I belive in unicorns
